About: ( quote from Clare Strand´s website)

Clare Strand (born 1973) is a British artist photographer. She studied photography at the University of Brighton until 1995, then at the Royal College of Art’s Masters Course in London (1998). She lives and works in Brighton. The sequence of her project work can be clearly defined and dated, is scrupulously planned, researched and executed, yet the pictorial results are unfailingly ambiguous. Her constant passion is the appeal of Utilitarian Photography where aesthetic issues are secondary to specific formulations and generic expectations. Research stimulates much of this dynamic; the formal repertoire of Forensic photography, the mechanics of spirit photography and the conventions of signage in photography used in the service of information. Certain specific images retain their talismanic effect on her, despite constant return to them.
