Police departments in the U.S
publish mug shots of freshly arrested men and women
on websites designed for exactly this purpose.
They are putting them in the digital pillory,
thus violating their dignity in an utterly shameful way.
Article 1, paragraph 1 of the German constitution reads:
“Human dignity shall be inviolable.
To respect and protect it shall be the duty of all state authority.”
