The way Melissa Shook is presenting her work, her texts, her selection of images, the way her work developed, all of this is telling quite a bit about her. She is being very open, and I am sort of embarrassed and touched by this.

Looking at her homepage is like reading a private diary. Touching bits and pieces, a lot is told, even more is not talked about. A story has been narrated; there is something to ponder over. All of it might be about the sad wonders of ordinary life.
