There Is no surviving complete Skeleton of a single Dodo.
Like all Dodo remains, this one is made up of the bones of several birds.
It is displayed beside the skeleton of the ‘Irish giant’,
a man called Charles Bryne, who was 2.71 metres when he died in 1783.
Aware that his remains would be displayed after his death,
the giant requested a sea burial.
Despite this John Hunter was able to acquire his skeleton for 130 pounds.
